As colder weather approaches, and the need for sweaters and jackets rise, please label these extra clothes! They get left behind sometimes and names will be helpful when trying to locate them! Also, please send long pants and long sleeved shirts for a change of clothes that students keep in their cubbies in case of accidents.
For homework, please allow your child to bring in an object that is either a 2D shape or 3D shape. Our goal is to create a shape "museum" for students to learn the different shapes. This should be things that are around the house that we could use to show shapes in our world.
Thank you for supporting the Richland Two Back Pack/Food Pantry program! Our campus is collecting corn bread and muffin mixes. It is wonderful how we work together to help others! Also, if you are interested, please check the school blog for school supplies needed for schools affected by the flood.
LCE would like to create a Wall of Fame that recognizes military members from our home and school community. They can be veterans or individuals currently serving in any branch of the military. Please send in a picture (roughly 5x7) with a description of that person and what makes them special to you. Please put your child's name and teacher on the back of the photo so that the pictures can be safely returned.
"Military families, it is not too late to sign your student up for our military kids group! LCE-Lower's military kid support groups are designed to address the specific needs of students with an active duty parent. We focus on topics such as deployments, frequent family moves, transitioning into new schools, making friends, etc. These support groups meet once a month, during the school day. If you feel that your child could benefit from participating in one of our support groups, please complete the form attached below. If you have already filled it out this year, you will not need to complete it again for this school year. Thank you for your service.

If you are having trouble logging in to RAZ Kids, please let me know. I noticed that so many students are not reading online! Our school purchased this wonderful program for students and it is a great way to enhance reading. Reading 20 minutes each day is essential for growth in reading.

Dates to Remember:
October 30th- Kindergarten Harvest Day
November 3rd- Pictures/Money Due
November 6th Report card issued home
Due to the recent flooding in our state and the devastation that many around us are facing, Lake Carolina will participate in a yearlong Service Learning project focused on helping those in our nearby communities. Each month we will focus on a specific need and collect items for those needing support. We will kick off our project by collecting school supplies during the month of November.
Additionally, our district is collecting items to assist our Richland Two Back Pack/ Food Pantry program. They are seeking specific donations from each of our schools to help those impacted by the flood. Richland Two is asking Lower Campus to collect muffin and cornbread mixes and Upper Campus to collect boxes of rice and pasta. Please consider adding these items to your grocery list as we will continue to collect them throughout the year.
Stay tuned for more information to come. As always, thank you for your support of our school and community.
Please allow your child to bring in two apples by Thursday, October 29th for a fun way to learn about apples while we compare and contrast them.. We would like to get a variety of red, yellow and green if possible! We will make applesauce with them as well!
Harvest Day Oct. 30th- Students will come to school dressed as a farmer. This could include jeans, over-alls, boots, straw hats, bandannas, plaid shirts etc... Students will enjoy a special day of Fall fun! We will have a picnic lunch. Please click on link below for a form that you will indicate whether your child will be bringing a picnic lunch from home or if he/she will choose a school picnic lunch.
