News for the Week of Feb 1-5

Dates to Remember

Friday, Feb. 5th is the 100th day of school and Hibernate with a Good Book Day. We need volunteers for reading to small groups of children from 9:00-9:30ish. Please let me know if you can help out! 


Also, in the afternoon, from 12:00-1:00 we are planning 100 day experiences and we need people to work in small groups. Please let me know if you can help out! Please see notes and homework in your child's folder for the 100th day and Hibernate with a good book day.


Valentine's Exchange:February 12th: Please allow your child to decorate a shoe box or box of similar size for the Valentine Exchange here are some examples: Box. Please send in 17 Valentines with your child's name on each one. Please do not put any other name on the valentines because the children will simply put a valentine in each of their classmates' decorated valentine box. Please make sure the box has a lid so it can be open for children to drop their valentines in each other's boxes. Tip: Put Valentines in a ziploc bag and place them in the decorated shoe box and bring the box and valentines to school starting the Week of February 9th. 



State Museum Field Trip: We are scheduled to go on a free field trip Wednesday, Feb. 24th. There is no cost for students. Parents who are able to volunteer to help with supervision of small groups are to be at the Museum at 10:00 where they will pay $5 for our group rate. If you are planning to attend to help, please email me! Younger siblings are not allowed for all school field trips

Boosterthon $40 Prize Day


Congratulations!!!!!!! We have done such a great job with our Boosterthon Fund raiser tomorrow is a prize day! Tuesday January 26, 2016 is No shoe day!  Students will wear shoes to school but will be able to remove shoes and walk around class in socks.  We will put our shoes back on to attend lunch and related arts.  Thanks for all you do!

News for the week of 1/18-1/22

January 28-Antarctica Day...shhhh....this is a surprise for students! (We still need four more volunteers please sign up Antarctica Day)  






Boosterthon Fun Run Friday, January 22nd!: Wear your t-shirt for the run, however if it is cold outside, please have your child wear warm clothing under his/her shirt as well as comfortable, warm pants to participate in the fun run. PLEASE REMEMBER $1 PLEDGE PER LAP EQUALS $35 DOLLARS TOTAL.  1 FLAT DONATION EQUALS $30.



Tacky Day: January 27th: We are planning to read several fiction books about Tacky the Penguin. We will be dressing "Tacky" to honor this funny character in these books! He typically has on a flowered tropical shirt with a man's tie. Some suggestions to wear are mismatched shoes, socks, clothing etc...


Lost and Found: Parents please be sure to visit our lost and found area located near the cafeteria if you are missing jackets, coats, hats, etc....If items are not claimed, they may be donated to local charities as we get an over abundance of items. 

In math we will be studying Part/Part/Whole.  Last week was an introduction to the topic.  Here is a video to show what Part/Part/Whole is.  I will send out a video later this we explaining how I like to do it in class.  Download the Part/Part/Whole board/mat we use in class.

RAZ Kids: I have updated all students! IF you notice that your child's level has changed, CONGRATULATIONS! Your child has been practicing reading and it has paid off! Please have your child keep reading each night! It really will boost their confidence in all academic areas if they are reading fluently.
